September 13, 2005 - Few things are more adorable than toddlers venturing into the adult world and testing out adult activities. Precocious Sam pretending to shave like Daddy is a Kodak moment. Samantha helping make brownies and getting more frosting on her body than in the pan – frame worthy!
How cute do you think it is to see little bodies doing cobra and downward dog poses in a yoga class? Adorable!

A great photo to share with friends and family is far from the only benefit. Babies, toddlers and even your active 4 year old can benefit greatly from Itsy Bitsy Yoga ® (IBY) which was developed by Helen Garabedian, an Infant Developmental Movement Educator and Registered Yoga Teacher. IBY consists of over 100 baby and toddler friendly poses that are specifically designed to address the needs of your growing little one.
Benefits of IBY for the children include: longer and better sleep, improved digestion, improved bonding with parents and increased self-esteem just to name a few. Parents can benefit with reduced stress and anxiety, improved ability to calm their child and improved sleep.
If the benefits sound appealing, you should definitely see what classes Alexandra De Collibus of Sweet Pea Yoga has to offer. Alexandra received her training directly from IBY founder Helen Garabedian and has taught the IBY program at many locations around the Metrowest. She is currently teaching classes for babies, tots and tykes at three locations – Hopkinton, Franklin and Marlborough.

While it is not too hard to envision your infant on her tummy, back or in your arms while you help ease their little legs into a “Supine Bound Angle Pose”--better known in IBY as "Kissy Feet", it may be a little more difficult to imagine your active toddler being in one place long enough to actually hold a pose. Not to worry -- as Alexandra says, “Where the toddler is, is where the yoga happens.” Classes for your older little ones incorporate songs, stories and games with the poses to keep their interest.
Registration is going on now and you can register through week 2. For more information you can contact Alexandra at 508-981-3244 or at www.sweetpeayoga.com
