Students for Bhopal, part of the International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal, presents a special concert by virtuoso classical guitarist Jerome Mouffe on Friday, February 24 at 7 PM in MIT's Little Kresge Auditorium, 48 Massaschusetts Avenue in Cambridge. Jerome Mouffe will perform solo guitar works by Albeniz, Barrios, Castelnuevo-Tedesco, Piazzolla and Regondi. Proceeds from this concert will benefit the survivors of the Bhopal Chemical Disaster (Bhopal, India, 1984). This disaster continues to cause suffering in Bhopal due to ongoing health problems and continuing groundwater pollution from the Dow-Carbide factory site.
Belgian guitar virtuoso Jerome Mouffe has dazzled international audiences with his passionate and spontaneous playing. Jerome has toured extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the Unites States and Western Europe with noted performances for Boston Classical Guitar Society, Masters of Tomorrow Concert Series in Rhode Island, and Boston GuitarFest. In November 2009, he was invited to perform at the International Agustin Barrios Mangore Festival in Brussels, where he shared the stage with his mentor Eliot Fisk in addition to performing his own solo recital at the prestigious Flagey Concert Hall. His performances were broadcast on Belgian national public radio networks Musiq3 and Klara.
Jerome's debut CD, Capriccio -- featuring early 19th-century virtuoso Italian music -- was released in 2009 on the VGo Recordings label, Jerome received a Master Degree at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles (Belgium) and a Postgrade Diploma at the Universitat Mozarteum Salzburg (Austria). He is currently a doctorate candidate at the New England Conservatory in Boston, under the direction of Eliot Fisk. |
