Our 2017 conference is being held in February this year! All three tracks are back-educator, parent, and student. The focus this year is on our twice exceptional students (2e): our students who are gifted but also have some form of a disibility. Our adult keynote is Dr. Susan Assouline, Director of the Belin-Blank Center, presenting on the social-emotional needs of our students. Breakout sessions include: IEP vs. 504, the science behind reading, an update from Chuck Peters, a parent round table, and information on dyslexia, the brain and the social-emotional function of students.
Student sessions focus on inspiration and self-advocay. The student keynote is Dr. Jennifer Rasmussen of Mount Mercy University, presenting some words of wisdom. Students will then brainstorm and build their "All About Me" projects with technology assisstance from the Iowa Center for Assisstive Technology and Research. Students will end with a session with the Belin-Blank Center focusing on 2e.

Our vision is to increase awareness of dyslexia and promote services that address the importance of diagnosis and remediation for those who are not meeting their reading potential...in a way that promotes unity, support and cooperation among those who work with these individuals...so that all communities in Iowa benefit from the skills and talents of its citizens
