Details: The Conway Village Arts Walk and Open Studio Tour on Sunday, Nov. 29 is a mosaic of activities for residents and visitors alike. Thirteen Conway artisans and visual artists will be opening eleven studios to the public for a self guided tour from 12:00 to 5:00PM. The Conway Town Hall located on the corner of Main St. (Rt. 116) and Academy Hill Rd will host additional artisans, cottage industries (including balsam wreaths, jams and imported olive oil), community groups and children’s activities and will be open from 12:00 to 7:00PM. A holiday tree lighting and community sing will conclude the event at 6:30 PM.
Artists participating in the Open Studios Tour include Phyllis Labanowski, Celebration artist; Fort Mallary Gallery installation artists, Klaus Postler, Michael Goring, Christoph Rodde, and Anne Laprade; Katherine MacColl, handcrafted decorative pillows; Debra B. Hoyle, works in oil; Sue McFarland, hand-woven and hand-felted accessories; Nancy Wilson, handpainted boxes and furniture; Jerry Axelson, one-of-a-kind studio furniture; Elisabeth Hill, colorful handwoven items; Bob Compton aka Rising Sun Forge, hand-forged artistic and functional ironwork; David Barten, wood sculpture: standing figures, dioramas, and celebrations of old woodworking tools; Bill Brayton, sculpture and drawings; Erica Wurtz, ceramics and sculptural vessels and Megan Hart, pottery.
The Open Studio Tour and downtown exhibits are free. Maps will be available the day of the event at the Town Hall and the following downtown businesses: the Conwaynian Artist Gallery, Pages Coffee, Baker’s Country Store, The Fort Mallary Gallery, the Conway Historical Society and the Conway Inn.
