During her 2009 Artist-in-Residence at Fruitlands Zsuzsanna Szegedi has been creating new works and engaging museum visitors to observe her process as she reveals unexpected characteristics of the Fruitlands trees.
While not a new subject, trees have been inspirational to many artists. “I choose to depict trees because they are universal, and also personal,” says Zsuzsi. “Everyone knows what a tree looks like, so I can be creative, abstract and inventive. I also have great freedom with colors and with the canvas. With trees, I find my voice.” |
