Trashy start-ups compete for a crowd-funded cash prize. Attendees vote on the pitch that best demonstrates its ability to help NYC reach zero waste to landfills by 2030.
By bringing people together to TALK TRASH, we hope to continue to build a community of individuals, organizations, and companies that are dedicated to developing environmentally responsible solutions to urban waste management.

TALK TRASH CITY EVENT STRUCTURE:
Each Talk Trash City event will comprise of 3-4 presentations, (given in pecha kucha format), to a panel of expert judges and guests in attendance.
After each ~7 minute presentation, the judges will comment on the presentation and have an opportunity to ask questions.
Then the audience decides who will get the money raised that evening.
At the end, there will be time for networking with friends and colleagues.
Talk Trash City is a series of fun, energetic conversations intended to critique fresh ideas about handling NYC's waste.
Our aim is to create a vibrant and useful dialogue between industry experts and innovators so that ambitious goals can become real, sustainable progress.
Talk Trash City is fiscally sponsored by the Open Space Institute, a New York-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization, as part of their Citizen Action Program.
