(photo, Greg Troxel) On Sunday, November 22nd at 3:00 p.m., Sounds of Stow Festival Chorus & Orchestra will present a concert of the music of Felix Mendelssohn and Franz Joseph Haydn. Continuing our celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Mendelssohn, Artistic Director Barbara Jones has selected three choral works utilizing full orchestra. Psalm 42 (1838) “Wie der Hirsch schreit (As the deer yearns for fresh water)”; Psalm 95 (1842) ”Kommt, lasst uns anbeten (O come, let us sing)”; and Christmas Cantata (1831) “Vom Himmel hoch (From Heaven on High)”. Vocal soloists will include sopranos Margot Law and Laura Troisi; tenors Richard Monroe and Michael Wood; and basses Paul Clark and Ryan Burn. The Festival Orchestra will perform Sinfonia Concertante in B-flat (1792) of Haydn, with soloists Lawrence Franko, violin; Ariana Falk, ‘cello; Veronica Kenny, oboe; and Leo Kenen, bassoon.
General admission tickets available at door for $20.00, Seniors & Students $15.00.
