Details:The historic Waltham Clothing Exchange is reopening for its 62nd Fall Season on Tuesday, September 11, 10 am to 1:15 pm. According to the current managers, Joel and Susan Weddig, this long-term project of First Parish in Waltham, as a consignment thrift shop, supports social justice and preservation of the environment by providing a means to pass on good used items from those who no longer need them to those that can use and appreciate them. Items not sold at the end of our fall or spring seasons are donated to local charities.
Over the 62 years, the Waltham Clothing Exchange volunteer staff, consisting of First Parish members and friends, have worked with thousands of consignors to sort through their items and set a fair price. Many of the volunteers started out as customers and have helped out for years.
Although only a few of the nearly 100 current consignors can date their involvement since the 1950s and 1960s, there are dozens who have joined in the past decade. With a wide variety of cultural, economic, ethnic, and family backgrounds, our consignors are a diverse group representative of Waltham citizens. And even more so are our customers.
Located in four rooms and the corridor on the lower level of the First Parish in Waltham (50 Church St.), you will find 20+ racks of clothing (for all ages and sizes), blankets and linens. Hanging on the walls are purses and bags in all sizes, as well as pictures and art. There are toys and games and puzzles, and stuffed toy critters. Plenty of shelf space hold shoes, all types of housewares (lamps, cutlery, plates, cookware, glasses, cups, etc), small appliances, picture frames, books, movies, toys, jewelry, collectibles, electronics and knick knacks. Seasonal and holiday items also are sold. Any items not able to be sold are given to local charities.

Consignors will be bringing in their goods for sale when the Waltham Clothing Exchange opens on Tuesday, September 11 from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Except for a special Saturday Opening on October 20, the Fall Season continues, Tuesdays only, with regular open hours of 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from September 18 to December 11. The Half-Price Sale is January 8, and the season ending Clearance Sale is January 15 (10-1).
The Waltham Clothing Exchange is handicapped accessible. There is a MBTA bus stop and bench at the top of the parking lot on the School Street side of the building.
