Focus 2050 is the MBTAs long-range plan for transit investments. It is the latest update to the Program for Mass Transportation, a plan required by state law.

Decisions we make today will shape how people move around Massachusetts for decades. Focus 2050 will be a vision for the agencys progress, priorities, and investments. It will:
- Help guide decisions by the MBTA and ensure our decisions are smart and keep long-term goals in mind.
- Connect the MBTAs strategic goals with its five-year Capital Investment Plan.
- Identify investment priorities and potential capital improvements.
- Look beyond todays needs to prepare the system for the needs of the Commonwealth, accounting for future growth, climate impacts, and changing travel patterns.
