Looking for a simple way to give back to shelter dogs? Join us for our new drop-in Community Care Days at the Franklin County Dog Shelter Adoption Center.
These relaxed, family friendly sessions are a great way to spend time helping dogs in our care while connecting with others in the community.
No experience needed. No pre-registration required. Just show up ready to lend a hand.
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Franklin County Dog Shelter Adoption Center
During your visit, you will spend time reading to shelter dogs, help with shelter chores, create enrichment treats and spend time with one of our shelter dogs. Because this is an open session, you will be sharing the space with other families and community groups.
It is a fun, welcoming way to get involved in your community and help make a huge difference in the life of a shelter dog!
What to Know Before You Come
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18+ years of age
A volunteer waiver will be signed at check in
No sign up or training required. Just arrive during the event hours
Optional Donation Items to Bring
If you are able, we welcome donations of children's books and\/or enrichment treat making supplies such as:
Peanut butter\/Sun butter
Canned pumpkin (Pure pumpkin. NOT pie filling)
Cream cheese
Greek yogurt (Plain)
Cheez Whiz
Ice cream cones (small)
Small Dixie cups
Beef broth
These simple ingredients help us create enrichment treats that keep our dogs engaged, happy, and mentally stimulated.
Whether you come with family, friends, or on your own, your time and service makes a huge difference in the lives of our shelter dog!
