|Details:||HMTA FESTIVAL IS GOING VIRTUAL and it is even more EXCITING!|
Students who are interested in participating in the HMTA Virtual Festival are asked to submit a YouTube link with the recording of their piece(s).
8 students from grades 6-12 will be chosen by the judges to participate in a Virtual Zoom Masterclass with Melvin Chen, Professor of Piano and the Deputy Dean at the Yale School of Music. Please, see the full bio below.
The Masterclasses will take place on January 24 and 31, 2021 from 2PM to 4PM.
The Masterclasses are open to the public.
This year's registration will be a TWO STEP process:
Students or parents are asked to fill out the registration on the google form (link provided).
Parents will send a check, via USPS (regular mail) to the HMTA treasurer, postmarked on or before January 11th. The address of the Treasurer is included on the google form and the checks should be made out to HMTA.
This year's registration fee is only $20 to help families, who might be struggling due to pandemic, and to make it possible for all interested students to participate.
What stays the same?
Maximum recommended performance time is 7 minutes.
It is recommended that the performers prepare one piece of their choice or a set of pieces by the same composer.
The Festival is an adjudicated event.
The judges comments are sent to students' teachers approximately a week after the event.
January 4th, online registration opens.
January 11th, online registration closes at midnight; last day to send the payment.
January 18th, students chosen for the Masterclass are notified.
January 23rd, Virtual Festival streaming on YouTube channel. 3PM.
January 24th, 2PM-4PM, Dr. Melvin Chen Masterclass 4 students. Zoom link will be provided.
January 31st, 2PM to 4PM, Dr. Melvin Chen Masterclass, 4 students. Zoom link will be provided.
