What is it?
Fro-Zen is a meditation training program designed to teach you how to maintain your Zen in challenging environments. This program will introduce you to mind altering breath-work, age-old meditation techniques and contemporary cold acclimation practices. When done together, these tools can be used to improve your health, fend off anxiety and depression and improve your cold-tolerance to a degree that you might not have thought possible.
What are the benefits?
Potential benefits of cold exposure and meditation include but are not limited to:
Relief from anxiety and depression
Heightened sense of well-being
Greater physical and mental resilience
Better sleep quality
Less post exercise muscle soreness
What will it consist of?
The course will consist of one three-hour session and three, two-hour sessions. Lessons will include guided meditation practices, deep breath-work, a group ice-plunge* and experiential lessons on how to use every day activities to increase your resilience and build an overall tolerance to the cold.
*The group ice-plunge will take place at Crystal Lake on January 16th, which is located around eight minutes away from Down Under Newton. If you don't have a car, you'll need to arrange transportation for that day.
The final test for the program will consist of a fifteen-minute, self-guided meditation outdoors in February. Participants who choose to take part in the final challenge will be encouraged to demonstrate their mastery over the course materials by meditating outside in shorts and a t-shirt with no discernible shivering for the entire 15- minute period.
Please note, this program is contraindicated for expectant mothers and those with epilepsy, coronary heart disease or a history of serious health issues such as heart attack or stroke.
This Program is Limited to 15 participants.
