| Details: | Our annual Photography & Illustration Contest is open for submissions. This year's exhibit at the Park's Visitor Center promises to be a beautiful celebration of Umstead through the eyes of our community.
We're looking for photos and illustrations across five categories:
Photo categories:
-Where Are Your Footprints? ? people doing Park activities, or evidence of them
-Stories in Stone ? remnants and historic structures of the Park
-In the Wild: Flora ? plants
-In the Wild: Fauna ? animals
-Illustration category: Any work featuring or inspired by plants, animals, landscapes, or historic features within Umstead State Park ? sketches, paintings, digital art, or computer-enhanced photography all welcome.
Adults and youth are judged separately, with First, Second, and Honorable Mention winners in each group receiving a feature in the exhibit, a complimentary Umstead State Park calendar, and a one-year household membership to the Umstead Coalition.
Know a young nature photographer? Encourage them to enter. The youth category (16 and under) is a wonderful opportunity to be recognized.
Submissions are open now. Deadline is June 28, 2026.
