What is Reiki? Reiki, pronounced, “RAY KEE,” is the Japanese word meaning universal life-force energy.
Reiki is a healing practice using light touch to balance and align your body’s natural healing energy with the universal highest healing vibrations so that you can feel healthier and happier.

Reiki easily complements all healing practices including Eastern and Western medicines. Reiki is now practiced in major hospitals as part of their Integrative Medicine Programs and is commonly part of palliative and hospice care. Reiki practitioners receive a unique attunement during their training to strengthen their power to heal through touch.

Testimonials about Reiki’s impact describe increased relaxation, reduced stress and pain, increased sensation such as warmth, and an overall sense of well-being. These reports come from individuals living with a wide array of challenges including anxiety, depression and sleep disorders, as well as those recovering from stroke, brain injury, and accidents.

Reiki I class includes: Defining Reiki, Usui Reiki History, Lineage, Principles and Precepts, Receiving Attunement, Self-Reiki: Protocol and Practice, Reiki with Others: Protocol and Practice, References - books and articles. Meditation, poetry, and music, is also incorporated throughout.
Reiki II class includes: Reiki Symbols: Introduction, Practice, Application; Receiving Attunement, Absent/Distant Reiki Protocol and Practice, More Practice - Reiki Self- and Others - tables and chairs. Meditation, poetry, and music, is also incorporated throughout.

Note:

Separate certificates are given for completion of Reiki I and Reiki II.
Reiki I indicates certification of Reiki in First Degree in the Reiki Usui Tradition of Natural Healing, honoring the spiritual lineage of Usui. Reiki II indicates certification of Reiki in the Second Degree in the Reiki Usui Tradition of Natural Healing, honoring the spiritual lineage of Usui.

Reiki I is a prerequisite for the Reiki II course although it need not have been completed with Emily or necessarily in the Usui tradition.

Reiki I and II certification is usually required to practice, sharing Reiki with others including in hospitals, hospice, animal shelters, and a wide array of settings. A Reiki Master's Degree, the next step after completing Reiki I and II, is required to attune others. A Reiki Master's Training Degree is required to teach others.

For each session, students will receive a class notebook via email that they will print out and bring to class. Please bring a notebook and pen/pencil. Comfortable clothing is recommended. Please avoid wearing scents and eating in the room. Drinks are welcomed as long as they are covered.

Reiki Master, Emily Kearns, PhD, trained with Reiki Master Teacher, Libby Barnett, MSW, the longest practicing Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher on the East Coast. Emily offers Reiki in Boston’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s Integrative Medicine Program and believes that Reiki is accessible to all who choose to “show up for it.” Emily invites you to join her in experiencing, Reiki Well-Being!
