For more than 30 years Northwest Sound, the performing chorus of the Bellevue Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, has been sharing the best a cappella singing in the barbershop style with you, our friends, family, and patrons. As part of our effort to keep you informed of our shows and events, we have been sending you periodic updates through announcements like this.
Several years ago, the men of Northwest Sound voted to offer women the same high quality musical experience they were receiving, which led to the creation of Northwest Mix. This is a mixed-voice chorus with both men and women which has rapidly become a superb singing group.
As Northwest Mix has developed it has become clear that with two excellent performing choruses in our chapter, having all communications to, from, and about Northwest Mix emanate from our current northwestsound.org website is causing confusion. It also can give the erroneous implication that the choruses are not equal. For these reasons, the decision has been made to rebrand the chapter in a way that will allow both choruses to share the website while developing individually and expanding their performance opportunities.
After much discussion, the men and women of the Bellevue Chapter voted to rebrand the chapter as A Cappella Northwest. The intent is not to create a new singing organization, but rather to provide an umbrella organization under which Northwest Sound and Northwest Mix can flourish.
So, what does this mean for you? It means that when you receive announcements about shows and events for A Cappella Northwest you can be assured that you are still hearing some of the best a cappella singing on the eastside.
