Join us for this free event as seven Oregon-based authors will be at Roundabout Books from 11:00am - 2:00pm to talk about their books. Authors will be seated around the store, so you can talk to them about their books at your convenience. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

GARY MIRANDA (www.garymiranda.com) has taught writing and literature as Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Athens and as writer-in-residence at Reed College. Gary has published poems in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Poetry and elsewhere. His first book, Listeners at the Breathing Place, won the Princeton Poetry competition, and his collected poems and translations, The Must-Be-Admired Things, was published last year. Gary has won nine awards from the Poetry Society of America and is the recipient of the 2023 Stewart H. Holbrook Literary Legacy Award to be presented at the Oregon Book Awards ceremony in April.

OAKLEY TAYLOR traveled with her family to Okinawa, experiencing a memorable segment of her childhood overseas. Afterward, she grew up on Long Island, N.Y. during the sixties. In 1973, she headed west to Colorado and then north to the Yukon where both her sons were born. In 1982, she returned to her home country, finding a suitable place to begin a new life for her and her two young boys. She eventually settled in Bend, Oregon where she enjoys retirement in her favorite place on the planet.

JOE WHITE has lived and traveled worldwide, earned a Business/Psychology degree, and chose the Pacific Northwest of the United States to settle, raise his family and pursue his careers—first in telecommunications, then environmental, health and safety education. His interest in science fiction blossomed in his teens while doing research for an essay for a class assignment. The mystery of what takes place in our minds while asleep, during meditation, and yoga provided the foundation for his Between State series.

ERICA BERRY is a writer based in her hometown of Portland, Oregon. She has an MFA from the University of Minnesota, where she was a College of Liberal Arts Fellow. Her writing has appeared in The Guardian, The New York Times Magazine, The Yale Review, Outside Magazine, Catapult, The Atlantic, Guernica, and elsewhere. Winner of the Steinberg Essay Prize and the Kurt Brown Prize in Nonfiction, she has received fellowships and funding from the Bread Loaf Writers Conference, Tin House, the Ucross Foundation, the Minnesota State Arts Board, and the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources. A former Writer-in-Residence with the National Writers Series in Traverse City, Michigan, she is currently a writer-in-the-Schools with Literary Arts in Portland. Wolfish is her first book.

DANI NICHOLS is a writer, cowgirl, and mom of three from Central Oregon. She writes about motherhood, family, horses, and above all, the relentless nature of redemption. Her debut book for children, Buzz the Not-So-Brave, about her lovable and quirky quarter horse, released in summer 2022. Her work has won several writing contests and has been published in Fathom Magazine, Oregon Humanities, Fallow Ink and others, as well as several anthologies. DAVID TURNER – After graduating from University of Oregon with a Masters degree, Turner served as director of four art museums in the American West, the last of which was the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at UO. After retiring from museum work, he joined the faculty of the Arts & Administration Department and taught history of photography classes. After retiring from University of Oregon, Turner began researching local history in the greater Eugene area and has so far published four books on the topic.

JAY CARLTON is a local teacher and artist whose interests and pursuits range from greeting card design to commercial film production. Jay runs the Samara Summer Arts program in Bend and enjoys nothing more than collaborating with young artists pursuing personal ideas and insights that can only be expressed through the creative process.
