In awake awareness, we experience true homecoming. This is our primordial nature: tender, boundless and clear presence. Intensive training in mindfulness meditation and its integration with the adventures of being alive is the central focus of the course. For old beginners and new beginners alike, this course centers on (re)discovery of the innate capacity for living in awareness. Experiential understanding is prioritized over cognitive understanding in this module.

Topics to be covered and practiced:
Awareness/consciousness in context

Nature of reality

States of consciousness

Meditation as systematic cultivation of awakened awareness

Neuroscience of stress and meditation

Philosophy and refinement of attention

The yoga and mindfulness relationship

Role of breath

Compassion, including self-compassion, as both foundation and spontaneous outcome of practice

Universal applicability of mindfulness meditation

Relationship between meditation, emotional intelligence and well-being

Life as a Curriculum
