Details: | Bases and Rules of the Little Entrepreneurs Workshop
Participants and Objectives:- The workshop is aimed at children between 6 and 15 years old. It is a bilingual event that provides them with the opportunity to practice both Spanish and English while developing entrepreneurial skills.
Date and Slots:- The workshop will take place on Saturday, November 30th, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is limited to a maximum of 30 children, and the registration deadline is August 30th at 7:00 p.m. In case of rain, the outdoor event may be canceled or relocated. Participants are encouraged to stay updated by marking "Going" on the event's Facebook page.
Registration Fee and Fund Allocation:- The registration fee is $10. In case of difficulties paying, HHANWLA should be informed so that a sponsor can be sought. The aim of this fee is to teach students the need to invest to start a business.
Products and Services:- Participants can offer any product or service they wish, provided there are no legal limitations. Inventory and sales logistics are at the discretion of the participant, as the main objective is to learn how to manage a business. If electricity is required, parents must provide a generator and be responsible for its correct use. The use of propane gas is not allowed. The winner will not be determined by the amount of sales. Parents, family, and friends are encouraged to support the children by purchasing their products.
Educational Meeting:- There will be an educational meeting on Saturday, September 28th, at 10:00 a.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Church, located at 4110 Youree Dr, Shreveport. Topics such as product selection, business plans, marketing, taxes, etc., will be discussed. It's important for children to attend, accompanied by their parents if possible, to clarify any doubts.
Workshop Location and Schedule:- The sales workshop will take place on November 30th at the Bossier Farmer Market, located behind the rear parking lot of the Bossier Pierre Mall, at 2950 E Texas St. You can set up from 8:00 a.m., and each student will receive a kit that includes:
a) 50 "Little Bucks" (play money). With this, the student can acquire: $10 for the business license, $10 for accounting consultation, $10 for live video with 318 Latino, $20 for insurance, or they can also use them to buy toys that we will have for sale.b) Cardboard and crayons, so they can make their own advertising banner or bring one already made if they wish.c) Sales notes, money receipt, and calculator.d) Tax Payment envelope.e) Business Plan Sheet.f) 1 8-foot table.g) Money pouch.h) Document folder and pen.
Workshop Schedule:
From 8:00 to 9:00, setup and purchase of insurance, permits, etc.From 9:00 to 2:30, product sales (Evaluation from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm).From 1:00 to 1:30, tax payment.From 1:30 to 2:30, awards ceremony.From 2:30 to 3:00, area cleanup.(Schedules are subject to change due to weather or logistics).
Evaluation and Awards: * EVALUATION: The points to be assessed will be:
a) Business Plan: In a format, the participant must indicate their investment and potential profit if they sold everything. HHANWLA will provide a format, but the participant is free to use their own.
b) Booth Presentation: Each child has complete freedom to decorate and bring the necessary accessories to make their booth attractive to consumers. They must also be prepared with change, bags, and/or packaging, and everything necessary to successfully conduct their sale.
c) Performance in selling their product or service and the customer service they provide: It will be considered how well they know their product, how they sell it, and how they attend to the customer.
- There will be two groups for evaluation: children between 6 and 10 years old in one category and those from 11 to 15 years old in another category.
- These three points will be evaluated from 1 to 10, with a maximum of 30 points. 3 finalists will be chosen.
- From the 3 finalists in each category, the child with the most points will be the first-place winner and will receive $300 as a prize, the second-place winner will receive $200, and the third-place winner will receive $100. In case of a tie in score, the jury will have the discretion to determine the winner.
- All children will receive a diploma for their participation.
- The awards ceremony and presentation will end at 2:30 p.m., and all participants will have 30 minutes to clean up their work area.
Important Notes: * As part of this workshop, we will have 2 "problem clients" who will randomly select 2 children in each category, and if they are not fully insured, they risk having their business closed due to complaints or lawsuits.
* We will also have an Inspector who will randomly select 2 children in each category to review their permits and tax payments. If they do not have them, they run the same risk of having their business closed and/or receiving a fine.
* We will have an Accountant who will be in charge of accounting advice for participants before and during the event.
