Details: | An internationally recognized artist, educator, and community activist, Willis “Bing” Davis is an influential, beloved, and highly acclaimed artist living and working in Dayton, OH where he has established deep community ties and continues to serve as a mentor and inspiration to aspiring artists of all generations and backgrounds. In a distinguished and accomplished artistic career spanning over sixty years, Davis has worked in a variety of mediums that include painting, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, and found object assemblages. Incorporating African influences with distinctly American art forms, such as jazz, and infused by his own personal journey as a Black man who has experienced the seismic societal shifts from segregation to the Civil Rights movement, Davis’s work continues to meld these personal experiences and cultural influences into transformative works of art that honor the past, celebrate the present, and look to create a more positive outcome for the future.
