This program will take place at the John E. Pechmann… More Fishing Education Center at 7489 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Let's get hands-on! We've got you covered with all the materials and tools for this fun workshop.
You'll learn the basic techniques necessary to assemble your own custom fishing rod. Each participant will build a 6'6" medium action spinning rod, from an IM6 graphite blank.
Topics covered include:
· Finding the rod spine
· Prepping guides and handles for installation
· Guide spacing
· Basic guide wraps
· Applying epoxy
The course will be limited to 12 students due to space limitations. Pre-registration is required. Due to the length and complexity of this program, it is not recommended for youth under the age of 16 years old.
This workshop will take place over three evenings from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Students will work at their own pace under guidance from staff and volunteers. Once completed rods may be taken home, Note: (final coat of epoxy takes 8 hours to dry). Starting the following business day, rods may be picked up at the convenience of the participant. |
