Today’s cars focus on convenience, comfort, and technology. Although this is not a flawed approach for the current consumer climate, some contend they lack the creativity and artistry of bygone days. Many argue that modern cars are nearly indistinguishable from marque to marque and can be described as “soulless” or even “dull.” However, cars from “back in the day” offered curious, creative, and innovative options, which, although no longer available, remain classic and cool today. Our “Forgotten Features” exhibit spotlights ingenious, unusual, curious, and oddball options from decades past. These innovations sought to attract buyers and serve the needs of drivers and passengers. Some were wildly popular, while others failed to resonate with consumers.
