Details: | The Revolutionists, a girl-driven comedy, by Lauren Gunderson (Silent Sky) is about a playwright, Olympe De Gouge, an assassin, Charlotte Corday, a former queen (and fan of all things ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and a Haitian rebel, Marianne Angelle. While De Gouge writes her play, the lines come to life as the characters come to life in real time, hang out, murder Marat, lose their heads, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in the Paris of 1793. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. It is a true story. Or total fiction. Or a play about a play. Or a raucous resurrection...that ends in a song and a scaffold. Guaranteed to have lots of lace, corsets and curls! |
