Unlock your creativity and explore your emotions with pastel or oil painting in this exciting two-day workshop! Led by artist Jenay Elder, this immersive experience will teach you pastel and oil painting techniques, and guide you in expressing your true self through art.

Over the course of two days, you'll be inspired by examples of expressive art throughout history and challenged to use pastels or oils in new and unique ways. You'll brainstorm, design, and complete an expressive self-portrait, using realism, symbolism, color, and expressive strokes to convey your emotions.

Day 1:
Meet and greet with a fun icebreaker
Discover the world of expressive portraiture with a quick overview
Practice lighting and color mixing
Sketch and arrange your composition with a thumbnail sketch, and convey different emotions using pastel or oil paints
Start an inspired self-portrait

Day 2:
Use pastels and oils to bring your portrait to life
Share your thoughts and emotions behind your piece

This workshop will be held at the Central Art Supply classroom, where you'll have access to the latest art supplies and easels. You'll be part of a supportive community of adult artists, and will have the opportunity to participate in the April Third Friday Art exhibit once your projects are completed.
