| Details: | The letters to the church in Thessalonica are among the earliest New Testament documents. They are very personal and practical. The church is young and strong. Their faith is contagious. The gospel has transformed them on the inside, and is ringing out from them to people all over Greece. Paul expresses how thankful he is to God for their faith, hope, and love, but there are threats closing in. Paul hasn't seen these friends in over six months and is concerned about how they will handle pressure to go back to what they used to know. They are also confused about the last days, and what will happen before Jesus returns. Will the church stay faithful and stand their ground? Will they stick together? Will they endure to the end? These same questions weigh on my heart about our church today. We invite you on a journey to hear God's heart for his bride, the church, and to ready ourselves for the pressures, trials, and any further disruption that lies ahead. This series will help us look ahead, stand our ground, spread our faith, and change our hearts as we wait for Jesus to make good on his promise to come back for us. |
