Details:This month HumanistsMN welcomes David Breeden, HumanistsMN member and Senior Minister at First Unitarian Society, as our guest speaker. All are welcome! Childcare is available upon request at editorhumanistsmn.org by Tuesday, March 14th.

The written history of freethought goes back to the 700s BCE. Rejecting both the supernatural and ritual, the Hindu Charvakas insisted upon a materialist examination of reality through philosophical skepticism and empiricism. Sound familiar?

Dr. Breeden will outline the high points in freethought, paying especial attention to the development of humanism that led directly to the founding of the American Humanist Association. He will also ask, What's next?

Join us at 3 p.m. to hear David's presentation followed by Q A. At 4:30 well break for socializing over nibbles and drinks.

If you are unable to attend in person, we plan to live-stream this presentation. We will post the link the day before the event.

Rev. Dr. David Breeden has a Master of Fine Arts in poetry from The Iowa Writers Workshop and a PhD from the Center for Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi, with additional study in writing and Buddhism at Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado. He also has a Master of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School. He is a member of the Institute for American Religious and Philosophical Thought and chairs the Education Committee of the American Humanist Association.

This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining to help us cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted! Join or donate at humanistsmn.org.
