Details: | Joining the Naples Philharmonic on a program comprised of some of classical music’s most sublime works, newly appointed Artis—Naples Artistic Partner James Ehnes — who also performs on the Sypert Salon series this season — returns to Hayes Hall to perform Beethoven’s beloved Violin Concerto. Under the baton of celebrated British conductor Sir Mark Elder, music director of Hallé Orchestra in Manchester, the orchestra opens the performance with Sibelius’ The Bard, a tone poem that links the Finnish composer’s early and late styles and evokes a sense of ancient mystery. Closing out the evening, the orchestra performs Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3, the composer’s magnum opus and virtuosic tour de force, written originally for The Philadelphia Orchestra.
