Details: | Please welcome our Feature Wall Artist for month of May, Cindy Bear
Cindy is a self-taught watercolor artist. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Loyola University then went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Medical Science from Midwestern University. She practiced as a Physician Assistant for many years in Rockford, assisting General, Plastic and Vascular surgeons. After an unexpected illness, and no longer able to practice medicine, she began watercolor painting with a neighbor.
Cindy fell in love with watercolor, watching it flow across the paper, never sure what the water, paint and paper would give her. She began painting flowers and then quickly fell in love with arranging them in reflective containers like glass and silver, allowing the light and color to bounce across the subject matter. She has since explored other subject matters and began introducing mixed media elements. Cindy has been painting now for the past 8 years and as her health has improved has made the difficult decision to go back to her first love of medicine. “I don’t plan on hanging up my paint brush as I will always be a watercolor painter, enthusiast, explorer of this medium. So, I guess I am lucky to have found two passions.”
“I can be found out in my garden, on the side of the road, setting up a new still life, looking for inspiration for my next painting. I hope you find your passion/s as I have.”
