Details: | July 1 thru July 31, Sam Tucibat, Feature Wall Sam Tucibat is a retired instructor of photography and graphic design who taught for twenty years at Highland Community College in Freeport, IL. Sam’s creativity is motivated by the wonder of exploring new visual territory through the powerful medium of digital photographic composition. His method involves combining photographs or parts of photographs into one visual space, building unique images that are greater than the sum of their parts. He’s been doing this for decades—since the long-ago darkroom days when photography required film and chemistry. His process makes his images difficult to predict in advance. Built on the principles of exploration and play, each image comes to life and grows to maturity in a fashion that is more spontaneous than premeditated and allows for more authenticity than pretense. Some of his work reflects reality, and some of it offers the viewer a reality of its own. Sam resides in the tiny Ogle County, IL village of Baileyville with his wife, Barbara, and their two cats, Roobie and Moe. He is happy to spend his retirement years shooting photos, making digital art, entering exhibits, and struggling to put on his socks each morning as he grows inexorably older.
