Details: | Jas Mardis and Evita Tezeno: Sharing Memories
Exhibition sponsored by: Dr. Don and Dr. T.J. Johnson Johnson Consultants, Inc.
Popular artist Evita Tezeno will be making her second appearance at the ArtCentre of Plano exhibiting her brilliant collages with cubism influences. Tezeno combines handmade papers, acrylic paints, and found objects to create whimsical images that provoke laughter, though, and memories.
Noted for her bold use of color, texture, and shapes, her work is collected by many famous entertainers, media personalities, and professional athletes. Her work has been commissioned by the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, Dallas’ Deep Ellum Film Festival, and the 30th annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Jas Mardis’ fabric and leather works focus on creating story quilts, sculptures, and lite-assemblages. His current drive is creating exhibitions around themes that seek to restore stories, histories, and an examination of the African-American folk narrative.
Mr. Mardis is an inductee to The Texas Literary Hall of Fame for a 30-year career in writing, poetry, and editing. His work has been exhibited at Dallas Love Field, the Main Dallas Library’s Open Space Gallery, and the Swarthmore College exhibition: A Response to Gees Bend. |
