Join us for an informative and interesting walking tour of the Historic Jewelry District and Waterfront Learn about the past, understand what is going on today and view the future of this historic part of Providence.
The Past – We’ll learn about the rich history of the District and riverfront. Innovation started early, learn about innovation in the 1800’s. What company was named after a cartoon character? Who was the City’s longest serving mayor, where did he live and what did he accomplish (and do not forget his sister)? What happened to the Ship Street Canal?
The Present – We are seeing changes every day … new restaurants, a new park, a new bridge, new residents, new businesses are moving in or starting up.
The Future – We can see tangible evidence of the future with the many buildings under construction and proposed. Called the Innovation District by the I-195 Commission, we look forward to continued growth in businesses and residents.
