PRESENTATION:
The Era of Big Data and decades of functional MRI (fMRI) research have ignited a series of transformative breakthroughs that have reshaped the fundamental understanding of the brains functional neuroanatomy unveiling intricate cortical systems previously unknown. Damien A. Fair of the University of Minnesota will highlight how these revelations led to a new understanding of developmental processes and mental health disorders and how they provide personalized therapeutic targets for several neuromodulation strategies.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Damien Fair is a cognitive neuroscientist and professor at the University of Minnesota in the Institute of Child Development and the Department of Pediatrics. He serves as the Redleaf Endowed Director of the Masonic Institute of the Developing Brain. Using advances in functional MRI, mathematics, and neuroscience, Fair has helped establish key principles of brain development and its links to typical and atypical behavior. His work spans human and animal models, using non-invasive tools to bridge species. He has published more than 250 papers in leading journals such as Nature, Science, and Nature Neuroscience. Fair is committed to public service and STEM education, founding the YES! initiative and promoting diversity, engagement, and training across neuroscience.
