Our Wednesday evening sessions are designed for folks to work on their own woodworking project, using our state-of-the-art facilities.
WHERE Foss Waterway Seaport, 705 Dock Street, Tacoma, WA 98402

TOOLS Gain access to our full working wood shop, complete with the following tools: Table saw (SawStop) Band saws - 17\" and 19\" (Grizzly) Compound miter saw (Bosch) Belt sander (Grizzly) Planer - 15\" (Grizzly) Jointer - 8\" (Grizzly) Wood lathe - 12\" x 18\" (Grizzly) - please contact to reserve lathe time Drill press Corded and battery operated tools Wide range of traditional hand tools
Regardless of experience level, each participant will complete a safety orientation before they can be checked off to use tools. This process can take a while depending on how many folks attend Open Shop, so if you wish to move through the tool trainings more quickly, please reach out to Cori to schedule a private lesson.
MATERIALS Participants must bring their own wood and hardware materials, the shop can supply small consumables such as sandpaper and glue.
STORAGE We do not supply storage space between sessions unless previously arranged, so be prepared to bring your project home with you.
REGISTRATION Please register online BEFORE Open Shop (ideally by Tuesday). Occasionally, if no one has signed up, we will go home early. We don't want you to show up to an empty shop. Just register ahead of time!
IS OPEN SHOP RIGHT FOR ME? Open Shop is designed for intermediate to advanced woodworkers, but everyone is welcome to participate. Beginner woodworkers may have to be a little more patient, as you will need more tool trainings and power tool supervision.
