Details: | Join Conservancy staff on Friday mornings at Helen Rohner Children's Fishing Park for a fun and educational nature class!
Geneva Lake Conservancy offers annual summer nature classes for children every year. Each session explores a different outdoor topic, such as: insects, wildflowers, soil, etc., and ends with a nature craft project! Topics change each week, so please visit our website or Facebook page to read about each class. Class topics will be released at the beginning of each month. Parents are encouraged to stay for the duration of the classes.
July 1: No class — Instead, feel free to attend our Beauty of Birds event!
July 8: Rock painting! Learn about native plant species by painting their beautiful flowers on rocks for you to take home.
July 15: Make your own suncatcher! Learn how you can turn a plastic lid and pressed flowers into a beautiful suncatcher to hang in your window. If possible, please bring your own lid!
July 22: Make an ecosphere! Create your own little ecosystem inside of a jar and learn about the interacting components of a healthy ecosystem.
July 29: Create a pinecone bird feeder! Bring home your own bird feeder to hang in your backyard and learn about birds that are commonly seen in the area.
August 5: Make seed bombs! Create “bombs” of native plant seeds for you to take home or throw around the park while learning about the benefits of native plants.
August 12: End of the summer party! Go on a guided walk, build a home for friendly bugs, and enjoy a provided lunch to celebrate the last nature class.
Please bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Nature classes meet at the story time circle at Helen Rohner Children's Fishing Park. You can get there by entering the pedestrian entrance at Kishwauketoe and turning right onto the mulched trail. You'll see a sign for the Fishing Park on your right along the trail.
