Position Summary:
The Assistant Librarian contributes to the development, support, and implementation of library programs that support student success. This individual achieves those goals in the following program areas: library instruction and outreach; reference and public services; collection processing and support; and departmental operations.
The Assistant Librarian should also demonstrate the ability to work independently to meet project goals and deadlines, exercise considerable judgment and initiative, exhibit the ability to interact with a diverse public, and work collegially with supervisor, students, peers, and other staff. Highly developed organizational skills, with great attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate numerous activities as part of project management is also critical for this position. This individual should possess a strong administrative aptitude with excellent record-keeping skills, including word processing, maintaining spreadsheets, database management, and digital imaging software. Excellent communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and composition skills are also desirable. |
